Our adoptions are offered as pets ONLY!  We will not adopt rescues to breeders - Breeders or those intending to breed, please do not contact me to adopt rescues.

We reserve the right to refuse adoption for any reason.

We prefer not to adopt to children and teenagers.  Parents may contact us, but our experience has been that children and most teenagers have a difficult time making this commitment for the long term.  Parents -- think about where your child will be in the next 10-12 years.  Is there college, career, marriage, children in their future.  We find that these are the main reasons for rescues being created in the first place.

Do you have what it takes to provide a loving home for a rescue?

Largely due to the sale of sugar gliders at shows, relaxed USDA guidelines on hobby breeding and the lack of information and/or misinformation being passed along to new sugar glider owners, there is a growing number of unwanted sugar gliders that in need of loving and comitted homes in Arizona.  We call these rescues.

We have always taken in rescues with the intent to provide a loving permanent home and our rescues were not available for adoption.  However, we found that with so many rescues, we would quickly run out of room and resources.  Each of these rescues deserves plenty of attention and love.

Rescues often have been neglected or mistreated and may come with emotional baggage that can be difficult to deal with.  Sometimes, they have been well taken care of and simply need a new home.  Regardless of the background, it takes a special kind of person to make a difference in the lives of these precious animals.

We have rescues available for adoption.  Our adoption fee is $75 per glider which (in many circumstances) will include a cage, wheel, accessories and instruction.

Why do we charge an adoption fee?

1.  We do not profit from the sale of sugar gliders.  The money we take in does not begin to cover expenses.

2.  We find many people seeking to adopt a rescue for the sole purpose of obtaining "free" sugar gliders.  These gliders may come with baggage and require a deep commitment from prospective owners.

3.  We feel ethically obligated to neuter all male sugar gliders.  Many rescues come in that are not neutered and this is a huge expense.  Occassionally, we may place an un-neutered male due to the immediate opportunity for placement.  For this exception, we will place an un-neutered male only with a written contract for and followed by proof of immediate neutering.  This will not occur if females are present.

4.  Rescues do not always come to our facility in good health and can be without cages and supplies.  We need to purchase food, vitamins and supplements, cages, wheels, toys and provide veterinary care and neutering.

5.  When possible, we try to place non-emergency rescues directly.  This means, we take the information, the gliders stay with their bonded family until a suitable home is found for them.  The prospective owners will meeting directly with the current owners and if both parties are comfortable, the gliders will be adopted directly.  We charge no fee for this service of matching gliders with suitable homes.

Gold DustThis single female is a year old.  She is not completely hand tame, but has lots of potential.  We are looking to place her in a family that already owns a female.  Her previous owner writes:  "Although she does not like hands coming at her to picked her up, she does like pets and riding on people's shoulders. She also likes to be hand fed."

Genesis & BrunoThis 5-year old pair is not very tame.  They are okay with me, but they will require a lot of extra attention and it is advised that they go only an experienced glider owner.  These gliders come with their cage, toys, wheel and a pouch.
